According to the statistics, for every euro invested in tourism, the Andalusian economy gen-
erates one euro and forty-two cents. The multiplier effect is undeniable. Tourism worldwide
has generated, and continues to generate, such significant economic power that the World
Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) has already stated that it is destined to be the principal eco-
nomic power of this 21st century. According to the latest estimates, world tourism will grow
at an average of 3.3 % per year until 2030, with increases of between 40 and 42 million
travellers per year up until that date.
This 7th edition of the Directory of Certified Establishments and Areas is proof of our efforts
to offer the client the very best services provided by those companies and areas of Anda-
lusia that have been awarded a certification or distinction in tourist quality, environmental
management and accessibility.
To highlight just a few facts and figures, our Autonomous Community occupies the number
one spot in the list of establishments with the Q for Quality in Tourism award (323 certified
companies, representing almost 15.5 % of the total in Spain); with regard to the European
Charter for Sustainable Tourism, of the 36 Spanish certified national parks, over half (20, to
be specific) are in Andalusia; in the list of SICTED (Tourist Quality System) destinations, we
have 16 destinations (almost 11 % of the total in Spain) and occupy third place behind the
Basque Country and Catalonia; and lastly, Andalusia is the leading region as regards number
of kilometres of Blue Flag beaches, with a total of 116.32 kilometres, which represents
30.04 % of the Spanish total, and an additional 12 beaches and marinas receiving this award
compared to last year.
The public and private sectors must work together and prove their commitment to inno-
vation, quality, excellence, accessibility, sustainability and efficiency and effectiveness in
resource management. To this effect, the Andalusian Ministry of Trade and Tourism would
like to encourage all professionals in the tourist industry to look to the future with hope, and
to continue to work to maintain our leadership position.
Greeting from the Minister
These days, holidays, free
time and leisure are almost
considered a social right,
something that was achieved
in the 20th century and
