72 We do not realise that love plays one of the most important roles in our lives. If love plays no part in everything we do and everything we say, everyone around us will suffer, and everything we do will fail. Unfortunately, too many people are too weak to stop Satan entering into their hearts, and hatred takes over from love. We all have a need for love, even babies, from the time of conception and for the duration of their life. During pregnancy, all care should be taken to ensure that the little child is comfortable, healthy and happy, before being born into this wonderful world which God created for us all. Elderly people need to be loved, especially after they retire from their working years. At this time, they lose contact with the friends with whom they had worked or done business and, in many cases, their own families neglect them, and so loneliness becomes a huge problem. Many elderly people suffer because they are not receiving the caring they deserve. I urge all people with compassion to care more about your elderly parents, relatives or friends. Do not let them feel they are not important! Whatever we choose to do in life, whether it is our occupation, community service, or something else we feel obliged to do, do it with love and enjoy what you are doing. If you are doing it only to impress somebody else, you are wasting your time. If you are not putting love and commitment into your occupation, and you are working for a boss, it will only be a matter of time till your employer can see that you are not enjoying your work. Sooner, rather than later, you will be asked to resign, and you will be thanked as you leave your employment. In the middle of the nineteenth century, when the United Nations was established, I was a mature man. The main objective was to have honourable persons, each representing their nation, working together towards stamping out poverty, and establishing a peaceful world. At that time, I was so happy, believing the future for humanity was encouraging and bright for future generations.
