50 We must not forget that our life in this world is a short journey on the way to eternal life and, during that journey, we have numerous evil temptations to disobey God and His Laws. Be strong and positive, and do not let anyone distract you from your relationship with God. At the end of our time on earth, we will say thanks to God for giving us the strength to refuse all temptations. We may not realise that the Ten Commandments have been adopted by many countries as the Law of the Land. God will forgive if we are sincerely repentant, but I fully believe that God will only forgive us if we do not repeat the offence. However, with the Law of the Land, there is no forgiveness. All offenders will be punished in some way. We all know the difference between right and wrong, so why do we let evil influence us to commit sin? It is simple, when evil thoughts enter your mind, reject Satan’s intention, keep on praying to God and, eventually he will go away. If you keep doing this every time, he will leave you alone and you will please God. Alcohol is the drink most used to celebrate special occasions world-wide. Jesus used wine to celebrate His Last Supper with His Disciples. Scientists tell us that, in moderation, alcohol is good for your health. I have been drinking wine all my life with my meals, plus other drinks, but always in moderation, so I will continue to have the usual glass of red wine every night with my dinner. However, a warning to people of all ages, who do not have the strength to keep within a safe consumption limit. Excessive drinking of alcohol and taking of drugs of any kind must be absolutely a ‘no-no’. It is an evil incentive to ruin people’s lives and is a destruction for many families. My advice to young people is to wait until you are an adult to consume alcohol, and never, never try drugs at any stage of your life. Be strong, keep refusing the temptation, and distance yourself from people who use drugs. Pray to God to give you the courage to keep away from people with drug and alcohol problems.
