102 As I mentioned before, the Passion Play is non-denominational and non-commercial. No profit is to be made by anyone associated with the performance. This year when the ice cream van arrived at the end of the performance I told the vendor not to come back next year because the Passion Play is a pilgrimage, not a market place. When I received the Papal Knighthood there were three other wellknown people who received the award. St Patrick’s Cathedral was full of people when the Archbishop introduced me to present the award. Instead of saying Pat La Manna, Senior Australian Of The Year, he said “the oldest Australian of the year”. I instantly thought, not yet, but I hope that I live long enough to be the oldest. When I went home I wanted to make sure of the meaning of the word “Knighthood”, but I couldn’t find the word in the dictionary. I finally asked my wife Helen why the word was not in the dictionary. Helen guessed that I did not start the word with a “k”. After checking the correct spelling of the word it all became clear to me.
