41 I announced the result to the parishioners from the pulpit. I said we needed to show our appreciation to our Parish Priest, Fr Sheehy, who was so stressed from building the Church that he had gone grey overnight and, with the leftover money, we should buy him a black wig! I asked him if he would wear it, and he agreed. The following Sunday, he walked in with it on, and kept it on until he started to say Mass. I had never seen the congregation laugh so much in all my life. Prayer from the heart is the greatest cure for all our ills, including the pain that is caused by grief. No modern technology or medicine, or human medical knowledge, can match the powerful effect that prayer can achieve. There is no formula for how to pray. Each individual can simply use his/her own words, either verbally or mentally. Praying is a private, silent and confidential relationship with Almighty God, Creator of the Universe, who will listen when we pray for all our intentions. Praying is the easiest act of all, because there is only one language with Almighty God - the language of love! He is merciful and loves all His children equally. He knows what is in our hearts, and responds to all our requests in a sacred way, with passion and love. Praying to God for spiritual wealth, not material things, gives peace of mind, as we know that His love is protecting us from all evil temptations, and guiding us in a peaceful direction on earth and in heaven eternally! Any time is a good time in life to repent from wrong-doing in the past. However, the earlier in life the better, so that you can benefit and enjoy the beauty of peace of mind for the rest of your life. Repentance can take place anywhere, at any time, privately and confidentially, between you and God. No-one needs to know of your new life, and there is no need to publicise it. Repentance is easy - simply change attitude, listen and obey God’s teachings, and practise and respect the Laws of the land. Be gentle to yourself and others around you. Repent today, and you will be blessed. Your new heart can plant the seed of love, and share its harvest with all those to whom you may have caused pain in the past, but now love. Your new heart will be actively full of happiness, and peace will be with you forever and ever!
