eniors Felipe Coundouriotis, Zach Ford, Ellen Morris, and Lee Waters and freshman
Brittney Rauman teamed up with Shorecrest Alumni Beth Rauman '85, Shorecrest
Alumni Association President Charles Reynolds '81 and Gerald Davis '81, along with
Adam Rauman, Fabienne Robin, our visiting Fullbright Exchange Teacher, and Advance-
ment Director Adrianne Greenlees to work on a Habitat for Humanity home.
The volunteers worked on grouting kitchen tiles and removing, moving and installing
doors. Because the group was working the final punch list, there was a lot of cleaning
up involved as well.
"For the alumni, it's especially gratifying to work with the students," said Alumni
President Charles Reynolds. "They are bright and energetic and talking to them is a
chance to exchange memories of our own time at Shorecrest. Its especially fun to regale
them with stories of how small and primitive some of the facilities were at that time."
The house where the Shorecrest volunteers worked, in the Boyd Hill area, will become
the home for a Russian family with eight children. Part of the process of obtaining a
Habitat home involves 300 hours of sweat equity, working alongside volunteers and
contractors to get the house built and ready to occupy.
"Three of the boys from the family were there with their mother and worked with us,"
said Brittney. "The oldest one there, I think he's a junior in high school, talked about
moving from Largo to this new area and to a new school."
"I hope every alum gets a chance to work on a project like this in the future; it will con-
firm the school's good work on a lot of levels," Mr. Reynolds added.
"For alumni, it was a great opportunity to join with students to serve our community,"
said Adrianne Greenlees, Director of Advancement. "The hope is that this event
becomes an annual tradition for Shorecrest."
