I
spent 12 years
as a student at
Shorecrest, and
the most impor-
tant lesson I took
with me, apart
from the obvious
lessons of teach-
ing me to read,
write and do my
arithmetic, the
most important
thing I learned is
confidence.
Shorecrest taught
me to have the
confidence to learn, to question, to speak up, and to
think. Believing that I can learn anything is a powerful
tool to take with me as I enter college.
Part of that confidence comes from the classroom.
Shorecrest's teachers taught us well. That is a simple
statement, but it isn't a simple thing to do, and I am
incredibly grateful to all of my teachers for their dedica-
tion to teaching us. They are true professionals, and they
send us out into the world as well-educated graduates.
Another part of that confidence comes from outside
the classroom. Teaching didn't end at the classroom
door. The entire administration and staff at Shorecrest
set expectations for us and helped guide us through
the process of learning and growing up. The adminis-
tration and staff didn't tell us where we should go with
our lives, but they definitely showed us where we
could go with our lives.
The last part of that confidence comes from the net-
work of families at Shorecrest. The students supported,
challenged, and motivated each other, and our parents
put up with all of it for years! That tight-knit group of
students and parents gave us the confidence of know-
ing we have friends.
So, to the teachers, administrators, staff, students and
parents at Shorecrest, I can only say, "Thank You," and
I hope we make you proud.

I
have been going to Shorecrest for my entire life
since kindergarten, and I would not trade the experi-
ence I have had for anything.
At Shorecrest, I have had the opportunity to explore
every field of interest I could ever think of. I have been
able to play on a State Final Four basketball team, write
plays that have been produced, and get the educa-
tion that has set me up for my future.
This is one of the main reasons why, when asked
about what makes Shorecrest special to me, I say
"everything!" Everything also includes the relation-
ships I have kindled during my time at Shorecrest. I've
made relationships that will last an entire lifetime, and
it is not just with the students. My teachers have
sought to be more than just my teacher, for they also
look to make intellectual relationships, which extend
beyond the classroom. The teachers have worked so
hard to make you not only a more intelligent person
but also a better person. They have prepared me for
what is to come in college, and I know that I will con-
tinue to stay in touch with them.

Shorecrest has always been my second family, and with
them, along with the support of my amazing parents
and brothers, I know everything will work for me in the
future no matter what.
