ularly with our older son, is that the size of the
middle school has been great for him. He's more
comfortable socially, and he's been willing to try
some new things that he hadn't before."
Since Vivio's younger son is only in fourth
grade, we hope we have many years left for his
mother to be a player on our volunteer team.
For now, she and her fellow volunteers are try-
ing to get more parents involved. When asked
if she would co-chair next year's Gala, making it
three in a row, she laughs and says, "As presi-
dent of the Parent Association, I'm not sup-
posed to. But this is the time of year we start
recruiting people, and so far, no one's jumped
at the chance to do the Gala, so we'll see."
Hopefully, new people will step up, but we
have a feeling we will still see the multitask-
ing S.P.A. president behind the scenes at the
next Gala, pitching in, having fun, and mak-
ing a difference.
