skills by serving as the President of the
Multicultural Club, Delegate at Large on
Student Council, and Captain of the Girls
Varsity Basketball Team. I am truly grateful
to also have the opportunity to serve my
community by volunteering for American
Red Cross through Shorecrest Mini-Mester
Community Service Week. Through all these
activities, I am honored to be in the compa-
ny of all the talented and motivated stu-
dents at Shorecrest. Also, I am very privi-
leged to have had amazing coaches and
teachers throughout the years. They have
greatly impacted my life with their words of
encouragement and advice. I plan to take
everything I have learned from them, use it
in life, and pay it forward to bless others with
what I have received.
Furthermore, all of my teachers have had
a positive effect on my strategies of learn-
ing and excelling in the classroom, but
two teachers have had an outstanding
effect on my life. Mr. Moore and Mrs.
Burke helped me understand the true
meaning of working hard. I learned a valu-
able lesson from them and that is the
amount of work you put in is the result
you get. Every time I want to give up, I
hear Mr. Moore's voice saying," Crawford,
it's only business," and that's when I
remind myself I always want to achieve a
positive business outcome. The only way
to assure a good outcome is to come pre-
pared to the business meeting. Therefore,
in everything I do, I make sure I am pre-
pared and give a hundred percent.
Next year as I enter college, I will take
everything I have learned from being at
Shorecrest and use it to excel throughout
life. I am prepared to face and conquer
the rigorous work in order to become a
pediatrician. Through my experience at
Shorecrest and my faith in God, I know
that I am well prepared to succeed in any
goal that I set for myself.

hen I started looking for a high school, I
knew I needed a place where my creativ-
ity would be encouraged, where I would make
lasting relationships with both students and
faculty and where I would be helped through-
out my college process. I ended up choosing
Shorecrest because it fit all of these require-
ments. Little did I know that not only would I
have a wonderful learning environment, but
also that I would have four unforgettable years
at this high school.
At other schools, members of faculty are just
your teachers and administrators but at
Shorecrest they become friends and inspirations. I remember being told I was
going to be in Dean Sessions' advisory and actually being scared! Now I look
back on that and laugh because she has become an important part of my
Shorecrest family. Ms. Morlando, Mr. Manella, Mr. Beaton and Mr. Dillow always
gave me a smile and a good laugh when I was in the office. I was excited to go
to Mrs. G's class every day because she fueled my creativity and showed me
that black and white film photography does not have to be a dead art.
One teacher I will never forget is Mr. Moore. Always greeting me with a smile
and a new song to listen to, he is a huge part of my Shorecrest family. His
Political Science class has been one of my favorite classes at Shorecrest. From
understanding multiple types of government throughout history to learning my
nickname, Cha Cha, Poli-Sci has been a unique and unforgettable experience.
There aren't enough words to express my gratitude for the knowledge, fun and
memories these wonderful teachers have brought into my life. They truly have
prepared me to go out into the world and make a name for myself.
Besides the teaching and administrative faculty and students that make the
Shorecrest experience so special, there is a wonderful group of people ready
to help you with your college process. Ms. Huck was always there for a college
conversation or just a good discussion about cupcakes. I wrote many essays
and she read every single one of them within hours of when I wrote them. She
helped me get through the notoriously stressful college process with ease.
Shorecrest has helped every single student to create his or her own bright
futures, and I am so proud to be a part of the creative, inspirational and intelli-
gent Class of 2013. Thank you to everyone who helped to prepare me for a bril-
liant future. When I go into the world and am asked what high school I came
from, I will be proud to say Shorecrest Preparatory School.
