It's time.
This year Shorecrest celebrates its 90th Anniversary
and graduates its 37th Senior Class. Within the next
three years, we will approach 3,000 alumni of the
school and thoughts will turn to how Shorecrest will
celebrate its century mark in 2023. Simply put, it is
time for the Alumni Association to take its rightful
place of leadership in guiding this institution's future.
Graduates are now counted among the Board of
Trustees and school faculty. Presently, nearly 100 stu-
dents claim Alumni parents, and I am informed we will
shortly enroll our first Alumni grandchild. This says
nothing of the fact that so many other graduates are
now in positions of leadership and enjoy success
around the country, (and the world), in too many fields
to mention here.
At one time, the extent of the Alumni Association's
activity consisted of a handful of people having a drink
at Harvey's before a football game. This year, the
Association will help sponsor no less than ten separate
events including Turkey Bowl, Career Day, and the
Annual Alumni Golf and Tennis Tournament. Rather
than seeking funds from the school to exist, your
Alumni Association now contributes modest, but
growing, sums to Shorecrest, which allows the school
to attract ever better students. This includes a dedi-
cated Alumni need-based scholarship award. This
year we planned the first Alumni service project where
we worked with undergraduates and Habitat for
Humanity to construct a home in the Tampa Bay area.
We have come a long way and the future holds prom-
ise, but the Association needs your help to both
become, and continue, as a cornerstone of the
school's community. The days of simply holding the
organization together hoping to someday become
relevant have passed. There will never be a better, or
more critical, time to get involved and give back a lit-
tle of the hard work that went into your education.
We need your help, support and skills. It's time.

The mission of the Shorecrest Alumni Association is to foster a
mutually beneficial, lifelong relationship between Shorecrest
and its alumni, which will inspire loyalty to, pride in and support
for Shorecrest by current and future alumni.
The Executive Committee of the Alumni Association supports
this mission by organizing programs, initiatives and events that
will keep alumni connected to one another and Shorecrest. The
Shorecrest Alumni Association sponsors more than ten annual
events including Turkey Bowl, Career Day and the Shorecrest
Golf and Tennis Tournament. They also recognize outstanding
Shorecrest Alumni through the Athletic Hall of Fame and
Alumni Distinguished Achievement Awards.
The Executive Committee includes representation from every
Shorecrest decade and offers a variety of leadership opportuni-
ties. Please contact Deborah Shipley at 727-346-1807 or any
member of the Executive Committee if you are interested in
joining the committee, volunteering, connecting with fellow
alumni and staying involved with Shorecrest.
