Art students received 19 awards in the
Scholastic Art and Writing Awards this
year. Junior Savannah Broome received
a Silver Key and was recognized with the
Clayton Swartz Special Award of $300 for
her painting "A Clear Crispness." She was
one of only three students in Pinellas
County to receive this award.
Three students were awarded Gold Keys for their digital art
pieces: sophomore Sam Grant for "Surreal Monkey," Chris
Lovesky for "The Awakening" and junior Alice Leavengood
for "Flower Child."
Other Silver Key winners included junior Sydney Blume for her self portrait, "Smiling Self", junior Clayton Cravey for his
digital art piece "Trapped", sophomore Ryan Letteleir for his digital art piece "Nuclear Experiment," Chris Lovesky for
"Don't trust anyone" and freshman Katie Johnston for her drawing "Booooored." Honorable Mentions were awarded to
senior Amy Alexander, Troy Horstman and Colton Prescott; juniors Sephie Cooper, Franci Holland, and Ty Baird; and
sophomores Nicole Braner, Madison Free, Chris Lovesky, Annie Greene, Molly Rau and Jack Thompson.
Sophomores Savannah Pearson and Matthew Johnson each won Scholastic Silver Key Awards for their Dramatic Scripts,
"Gin" and "It's All Just a Game." Senior Noah Kartha won a Scholastic Honorable Mention for his dramatic script "The
Elephant in the Room" as did freshman Henry Walsh for "Making a Difference."
