horecrest has been my home since I
was in the second grade. There are
people who might say that being at a sin-
gle school, especially one as small as
Shorecrest, for that long of a time is a bad
thing, but I would have to strongly dis-
agree. I have loved being a part of this
community and think that all of my
achievements up to this point have been
conquered because of the support I have
received from my parents and family as
well as the family I have become a part of
here at Shorecrest.
One thing I have found out about Shorecrest is that you are never pushed
away from anything. There is never a moment where a teacher or coun-
selor tells you that you are doing too much. No teacher ever steers some-
one away from trying something new, and there are never any barriers to
prevent someone from doing what they want in the community. This
mindset isn't restricted to the high school, though. It is a constant in every
division at Shorecrest. In Lower Division I was urged to join the chess club.
When I reached Middle Division, the world of competitive sports opened
up as well as participating in theatre productions such as "101
Dalmations." But the opportunities didn't just end in athletics and arts.
History Day became available to students as well as science fair, and
everyone was encouraged to participate in everything.
What I have loved about Shorecrest is the support you receive from the
faculty and friends who surround you. Although this is constant through-
out the school, I have found that it is incredibly strong in the high school.
My teachers, coaches, and directors have always supported me in my
decisions and actions and done all they could to help me excel, and for
that I am truly grateful. I don't think there is any other school where I
could take part in the fall show and play football at the same time while
not sacrificing any time from one for the other. Then, in the spring, I was
able to participate in the musical and then make it to any of the spring
practices I could for football. At some schools, students would be per-
suaded to pursue and excel in only one area. At Shorecrest, however, that
hasn't been the case. My teachers, faculty, and friends have instead
helped me to achieve all that I can while not making me sacrifice anything
I may be interested in.
I am grateful for having been at Shorecrest because I feel that if I had
been anywhere else I wouldn't have experienced even half of what I have
experienced here.
Thank you for the great ride!

ith eyes full of tears and anger in
my heart, I refused to leave my
friends at South Side Fundamental to go
to a place no one had ever heard of. But
years later I realized that coming from a
public school to Shorecrest was a life-
changing experience for me, and I thank
my parents every day for making that
decision. Shorecrest has given me an
amazing education and experiences I
would have never received anywhere else.
All the wonderful memories at this presti-
gious school have molded me into the
out-going, independent, and hard work-
ing young lady I am today.
Moreover I am elated that I had the oppor-
tunity to participate in sports and clubs
because I was able to travel and build
long-lasting friendships with my peers. I
believe that it is very important for people
to have peers to support them in almost
everything they do. My teammates in
cheerleading and basketball definitely sup-
ported me in everything I did in a cheer
routine, on the court, or in the classroom.
There is no greater feeling then celebrating
the football team's win with a spirit-filled
chant, huddling in the center of the basket-
ball court after a long work out with my
teammates, or serving my school or local
community. Shorecrest has allowed me to
have the chance to enhance my leadership
