Shorecrest Pilots First Coursera Course in the Upper Division
Shorecrest high school students in AP Psychology have enrolled in the Cal Tech Coursera
course titled "Drugs and the Brain." Coursera is a social entrepreneurship company that
partners with the top universities in the world to offer courses online for anyone to take,
for free. AP Psychology teacher, Dr. Hamilton, is allowing students to explore the course
in structured ways through her AP curriculum and independently for Cal Tech certificates
of course completion.
"I am excited to pair the AP Psychology course with the Cal Tech, Drugs and the Brain
course. The advanced information will be an asset to the AP curriculum, especially in
the areas of neuroscience, altered states of consciousness, abnormal psychology and
therapies. We will have access to world-class professors and up-to-date research."
