"Having children should make you responsible, but your
life doesn't have to change. I wanted my child to know
that nothing is impossible," says Capo, adding that she
has accomplished a lot of goals, but nobody talks about
the challenges she has endured, such as the deaths of her
parents to cancer, her sister's cancer diagnosis, her house
burning down, her being held up at gunpoint three times
in her life, and her son almost dying this past Christmas
due to a burst appendix.
Pushing children to do extraordinary things is not reserved
just for her son. Capo also has motivated a group of
grade school students to compete for their own place in
history. Recently, Capo emceed an event where students
competed to become the largest group of elementary
school students eating breakfast together for an hour.
The group of 325 is now immortalized in Guinness
World Records.
"Schools should teach self-esteem classes," Capo says,
because peer pressure and bullying keeps children from
excelling. That's why in her motivational speeches Capo
encourages people of all ages to "be your own best
cheerleader, never give up, believe in yourself, be grateful
for what you have, and learn to surround yourself with
positive people--not with emotional vampires."
In case you're inspired to set your own Guinness or
Ripley's record, there are specific rules of engagement.
Among other rules, the event must be verified by
unbiased witnesses, the media in some form has to
be present, it has to be recorded from three different
angles, and names, dates, times, and all details must be
recorded. Only after careful examination and verification
will a certificate of authenticity be issued before a
record becomes official. Ripley's "records" are known as
"BIONS" (Believe it or Not's). Guinness records include
information on which people compete to do better than

the last person, who held the record last, and whether
the individuals are competing against themselves to better
their own records. Thousands of people submit records
every year for certification; only a few get in.
Even though Capo has the charisma of a politician, she
says that her interests lie only in entertaining, motivating,
and making people laugh. She said no to invitations to
compete on Survivor and Big Brother, and had to turn
down Amazing Race due to a technicality, but she might
say yes to Celebrity Apprentice if "The Donald" calls.
Either way, she's not holding her breath. She performs
a monthly comedy show for cancer patients and their
caregivers with an organization called ComedyCures.
She released her true comic crime novel about her dad,
Almost a Wise Guy, and her book Adrenaline Adventures
in e-book format, has the second edition of her 18th book,
What Happened in New Jersey, coming out July 2012, and
her spiritual book, Hopeville: the City of Light, coming out
in September 2012. She also runs two comedy clubs, does
motivational speaking and celebrity appearances all over
the world, and writes her weekly high adrenaline blogs
as "Travel Adventure Mom" for travelingmoms.com. She
also has a weekly humorous motivational YouTube series,
Cuppa Capo, where she interviews unusual people and
shows up in the strangest of places. The ordained minister
has signed on as a cast member of a new reality TV show,
Women Pastors - Ladies in the Pulpit (womenofruth.

her future.
In case you are wondering, she does all this and has
still managed to be in a 12 year relationship with her
fiancé, Steve.
Capo lives by her own advice: "Live every day as if it's your
last day and one day you'll be right! Because when that day
comes you don't want to be doing the laundry."
