Trains have also been transformed.
In the 1800's there were steam
engine trains that dominated
railway transportation until the
middle of the 20th century. In the
1930's, other types of engines were
developed, and the steam engine
trains slowly faded into junkyards
and museums. They were replaced

and more efficient diesel and
electric locomotives.
Today the fastest running train in the
world is the Japanese JR-Maglev. This
system uses magnetic levitation and
the "bullet train" floats on thin air,
speed, reaching 361 miles per hour
(in experimental settings. In China,
the Shanghai Maglev Train reaches
speeds of 268 miles per hour (431
kilometers per hour.)

educational system and made an
effort to catch up with the Western
World in education and the sciences.
Japan is now ranked at fourth in the
ranks of the top ten educational
systems in the world. Students from
Asian countries, including China,
Hong Kong, South Korea, Singapore
and Japan, have ranked near the
top of the OECD (Organization
for Economic Co-Operation and
Development) tests administered in
recent years.

the locomotive train has been
transformed into a high speed bullet
train, so has the world's educational
system evolved. In this process,
educational advancements have
revolutionized our way of thinking
and viewing the world around us.
As time passes, much of what we
currently see will become obsolete,
and we will embrace innovative
changes in education that will
prompt our minds to grasp new
ideas, new concepts and new ways
of learning. We will continue to grow
and develop as a nation and as part
of a global society.
