Making a
Difference in the Community
INC TuTorINg
Studies show that nationally, the scholastic achievement
of African-American students is on a dismal path.
African-American students often lag behind their peers
in mathematics and science. But the more successful of
these students are quick to point out their achievements
are the result of good teachers who encourage them to
believe in themselves.
It's Not Complicated Tutoring (INC), is on a mission to
help students reach their highest potential by promoting
leadership, professional learning, and community
initiatives that will enable students and parents to become
academic assets and creative citizens in the community.
"We must show them their place in the world and how
to correlate their place in the math world with a solid
academic base," said Leslie Hooks, COO of INC. "Our
approach is it to leave no stone unturned when striving
to facilitate the learning process and maximize the
capabilities of all students."
Specifically, African American students are finding it more
and more difficult to achieve success in mathematics
and science. INC Tutoring has taken steps to address
this issue by focusing on mathematics, literacy, and
career certifications. As educators and business leaders,
INC's goal is to motivate and keep students focused and
interested in mathematics and to present mathematics
in relation to a larger worldview. Parents and other
members of the community need to become champions
of education and masters of understanding how
children learn.
