W
hen the idea of a new
magazine was born in
2009, I knew I would need
a cover model with a great story. While
my email surveys did not produce
what I was looking for, the word-of-
mouth search prevailed and produced
serious leads. From those leads, I went
back to my email survey and plugged
in different keywords and received
interesting recommendations. Pastor
Renee Hornbuckle was chosen for
her interesting story. Getting to her
wasn't easy, but she invited me to her
church. I saw this as a good sign. And
her answer after she finished greeting
hundreds of her guests (with me at the
end of the line) was a big "Yes."
I launched the premiere edition with
Hornbuckle on the cover. However,
I was worried; I felt something was
missing. Reader, did you feel the same
way? Three years later, I decided to go
back and ask her for another interview.
Well, she accepted. This interview
completes her story and closes the
open chapter in my book.
