stIll goIng strong to keep the flag of the Junior Rangers programme flying, with the recent incorporation of an educational game drive for children. The event has to date been a huge success. Other aspects keeping the programme fresh and exciting include the recent acquisition of a beautiful pair of non-venomous Taiwanese Rat Snakes that has paved the way for live educational reptile demonstrations. An arachnid talk and demonstration has also kept children and adults alike interested in the programme. recently the proud venue of the 10th annual Adventure Travel World Summit (ATWS) the first ever on African soil. Hosted in October this year, the ATWS is largely considered the biggest gathering of adventure travel professionals in the world. The summit brought together over 800 influencers in tourism, business, sustainability, community development and conservation. The Legacy team erected six large marquees at the hotel, transforming it into a truly African conference centre. The Swakopmund Hotel & Entertainment Centre was also a proud sponsor of ATWS, having sponsored a value of over N$75 000 to the summit. prestIgIous tourIsM award national winners were announced in September at a function held at the Tshwane Events Centre. These inaugural awards celebrate the best of the tourism industry's service records and act as a benchmark for excellence across the tourism sector and more than one thousand submissions were received from the different provinces. Legacy is pleased to announce that the Kruger Park Lodge won the Provincial title of best 4* self- catering resort in Mpumalanga and went on to the National finals in Pretoria. Mr David Liebenberg, the General Manager of Kruger Park Lodge in Hazyview, was very proud to accept the trophy for best 4* self-catering resort in South Africa on behalf of his whole team. twIlIght Boys hoMe Balance once again left their mark on the community as they donated groceries, water coolers, towels and old unused uniforms to the Twilight Boys Home in Hillbrow. Together with the Fortunate Foundation ladies, the teams packed the kitchen full of groceries, then moved to the boy's rooms for some house keeping. Beds were remade to DAVINCI standards and a donated towel and facecloth was placed on the end of each bed for each of the boys. clean-up day established with the Heritage Environmental Management Company, with whom the DAVINCI Hotel & Suites holds the prestigious Platinum status, Legacy was invited to participate in its International Water day initiative at the Centurion Lake. A day was spent cleaning the many bottles, litter, plastic, clothing, trollies and tyres, among other items, at the lake. Close to 50 black bags of litter were collected, sorted and recycled. |
