Today the company employs around 2 800
staff members and of particular significance is
that 85 percent of these employees hail from
neighbouring communities to the lodges and
reserves where they work. These operations
span more than three million hectares of
privately owned African reserves.
More important still is that Wilderness
Safaris staff share a great passion for Africa,
her wildlife and her people and take pride
in applying their superior knowledge of the
continent to delivering a personalised and
tailored service to guests. This passion and
generosity of spirit is the glue that binds
all employees, from those who work in the
deepest wilderness, to the folks who manage
operations at head office in Gaborone,
Botswana and the regional booking offices in
Johannesburg and Cape Town, South Africa,
and in Windhoek, Namibia.

enduring focus on responsible tourism and
respect for nature, have taught Wilderness
Safaris that responsible, nature-based tourism
is the most effective and practical vehicle to
ensure the sustainability of Africa's priceless
wildlife heritage in the modern era.
The company's sustainability strategy
is encapsulated by what it calls "the 4Cs":
Conservation, Community, Culture and
Commerce; and is realised via its Children in
the Wilderness and the Wilderness Wildlife
Trust programmes.
