a TapesTry of care
Since its establishment in Zimbabwe
15 years ago, "Wild is Life" has grown
exponentially. From the humble beginnings
of having only a few rescued wild orphan
animals, namely duiker and mongoose, in
its back yard, to today where the sanctuary
now caters for literally hundreds of
injured, orphaned and rescued wildlife and
endangered and specially protected species.
Each of which have been discovered or
brought to it for assistance.
Apart from assisting the animals at the
sanctuary, the organisation also promotes
the awareness of caring for and protecting
wildlife and endangered species across the
board. To support this outreach it also offers
authentic close up experiences and personal
encounters with the animals for guests
visiting the sanctuary.
BuIlT on love
Wild is Life consists of two branches;
namely The Wild is Life Trust and The
Wild is Life Grand Experience. The profits
from the Wild is Life Grand Experience are
used for the welfare, care and continued
development of the Wild is Life Trust.
The Wild is Life Trust was founded in
2010 when Roxy Danckwerts, the protector
of the Trust, felt that there was a need
for Wild is Life, which itself was growing
beyond just a small home of refuge for these
animals into a fully-fledged sanctuary, to be
assisted and monitored by an experienced
team of business savvy individuals.
Ably guided by a formidable team of
trustees, The Trust is today responsible
for the welfare, development of facilities
and high standards of care offered to the
resident animals. In addition The Wild is
Life Trust works closely with the Zimbabwe
Parks and Wildlife Management Authority,
as well as other registered welfare
organisations such as ZNSPCA and the
Aware Trust.
