BALANCE
here is nothing quite like
slipping away for a few hours
during or after a busy day in
the office or handling family
chores and taking out time for yourself.
In fact `me' time is almost as important
to your general well being as
family time is.
We take time out at some of
the spas of the Legacy group and see what
the ultimate pamper packages available are,
what they entail and why you simply have to
take the time to pamper yourself. It should
after all be a right and not a privilege
Time ouT aT The DaViNCi Spa
Conveniently situated at the DAVINCI Hotel
& Suites in the heart of Sandton the DAVINCI
Spa provides the busy individual a welcome
break from the bustle that is one of South
Africa's busiest business districts.
Tourists, business people and shoppers
to the Sandton area frequent the spa. Its
beautifully styled rooms boast elaborate décor
and finishings, all in the signature black and
white of the hotel itself. Slipping from the
streets of Sandton into the spa provides an
excellent way to rejuvenate without taking too
much time away from work or home.
The signature treatment of the spa is a
two-hour session called the La Scapigliata.
The meaning of which refers to a painting
by Italian Renaissance master Leonardo da
Vinci called La Scapigliata or The Head of
a Woman. The painting itself dates back to
around 1500 and is housed in the Galleria
Nazionale of Parma, Italy.
The work is an unfinished painting,
depicting the head of a beautiful woman on
the historical front the painting is mentioned
for the first time in the House of Gonzaga
collection in 1627. According to sources it is
perhaps the same work that Ippolito Calandra,
in 1531, suggested to hang in the bedroom
of Margaret Paleologa, wife of Federico II
Gonzaga. In 1501, the marquesses wrote
to Pietro Novellara asking if Leonardo could
paint a Madonna for her private studio.
Like its name sake the treatment is
designed to inspire and awe its recipient. On
arrival you will be welcomed in the lounge of
the DAVINCI Spa, here you can take some
time out to relax or head straight into your
treatment room. The La Scapigliata starts
with a soothing sugar scrub. The scrub itself
warms on application relaxing each muscle
as your therapist gently works it into your tired
muscles.
This is the preamble for the calming body
wrap that is then applied head to foot to assist
in drawing out the toxins from your body all
in a bid to bring your body back into balance.
After this is then gently removed you are
prepared for a full aromatherapy massage that
is designed to transport your body to a place
of deep relaxation leaving your skin intensely
moisturised and youthfully smooth.
The coup de grace is a skin booster facial
therapy where your therapist will painstakingly
release all facial tension ensuring that your
face is left feeling rejuvenated and relaxed.
The ultimate
indulgence
pampering yourself shouldn't be a treat it should be a given
