Drawing from those wonderful and
sometimes seemingly crazy ideas and
emotions, jotted in their minds, Suzette
and her team created what they term their
beloved Grand Café & Beach. It is with
this imagery that Suzette describes the
transformation of this old fishing warehouse
into one of the most sought after destinations
in Africa ­ namely Grand Café & Beach.
With its `Beach Boy' exterior where the
old warehouse has been retained and added
to that a sun-deck and beach area which
extends to the water's edge; Grand Café
& Beach offers a new lifestyle destination
for any worldly and local traveller. It is an
eclectic collection of boho­chic nuances that
encourage a free spirited attitude to Café
life ­ a romantic fusion of French and African
flair with eccentricity and honesty. The team

Any interesting encounters with a guest:
Lots of them. one that stands out though,
was when Prince Harry came to dine with
us. I made a joke about the steak knife
being for the steak and not to hurt anyone
with. He told me that throughout the world,
people that serve him don't have the
courage to make jokes with him. He liked
that.
