It wasn't so long ago that In-spireLS Superman
Martin Delaney was kind enough to have a chat
with us, but we couldn't resist talking to him again
when we heard about his starring role in new Brit
flick Amar, Akbar and Tony.
We have had some serious, in depth interviews
with Martin before, so it's about time we got
random.
Where do you stand on the Jaffa Cake debate?
I think it's a cake it's just so spongy. I love the fact
that it's packaged like a biscuit, but once you eat one,
you just can't stop.
You're sitting on wonky chair in the sweltering
hot sun bored out of your mind. I give you three
publications: FHM, Guardian and GQ. Which do
you steady the chair with, fan yourself with and
read.
[After much contemplation] FHM to steady the
chair, read GQ and fan myself with the Guardian.
The Guardian is quite big isn't it so I'd probably be
able to cool myself down with it.
A high-end eatery would like to name a sandwich
after you. What would the filling be?
A really good pastrami sandwich like what they do
in the States, like a Reuben. It has pastrami and sour
kraut and sometimes they melt cheese on it. I always
grab one when I go back to the states.
Do you have a celebrity crew?
What like an entourage? [Laughs] The thing about
actors is we all know each other somewhere down
the line. There are guys that I have worked with that I
don't see often, but when we go for drinks it's like we
never left.
My cousin is Kevin Bishop. I also know Gerard
Butler. We see each other quite a lot and he has been
a good pal to me. Laura [Aikman] is in the crew too!
I heard about your bro-mance with fellow Amar,
Akbar and Tony star, Rez Kempton
Rez is like my homeboy. It is a pleasure to get on a
job and meet someone that is a cool guy.
Do you have a catchphrase?
No catchphrase, but I have this awful habit of calling
everyone `brother'- obviously not women! I sound
like a hippy. Maybe I should get a catchphrase.
If you could be any member of the Royal Family,
who would it be and why?
I quite like Prince Charles he strikes me as really
funny. I like his sense of humour.
I guess Harry has got it all at the moment: he can still
go out and party and get away with stuff, but he's still
Royal. I would quite like to meet Harry. I'll Snapchat
Harry, `Harry I'm in Vegas'.
What's your favourite song?
My favourite song right now is by a band called
Kodaline A Love Like This. They are pretty new on
the scene and they're amazing.
I went to their EP launch a couple of months on my
birthday. I really like their videos and I'm desperate
to be in one. I was talking to their management the
other night and was like `come on, get me in. Put me
in the video'.
Is it true that cannibals don't eat clowns because
they taste funny?
Don't they? They probably wouldn't eat me then.
Wait do you think I'm a cannibal? Is that why you're
asking me?
Martin plays lost soul Tony in Atul Malhotra's
London comedy following the lives of three
childhood friends in Southall. With Rez Kempton
and Sam Vincenti also playing title roles, we can't
wait for it to be released.
