he summer month's have finally arrived, couples are
out and about; they can be found gracing our cobbled
streets holding hands, in the park having romantic picnics
or gazing into each other eyes across restaurant tables,
oh and not forgetting all the letter drops of invites to
engagement and wedding party celebrations. Could 2013
be the summer of love to remember.
Love is one of the greatest feelings we can experience in
our lifetime, it's an emotion many of us desire to embrace,
hold and cherish. Love creates inner feelings of passion,
acceptance, self-value, security and yes a place in society.
Love is a language that is universally understood and a
topic which never lacks lustre or interest.
Lately, it has been drawn to my attention the number of
singletons that are appearing within the network of my
family, friends and business colleagues. All on the lookout
for a new adventure, a chance at romance, true love and
a long lasting relationship. Question is, where does the
search of Mr or Mrs Right begin... is the only option the
online dating platforms of Match.com, E Harmony or the
latest site all the 20 something's are excited about called
'Plenty of Fish.com'. Personally the sound of this site,
sends shivers down my spine.
I often wonder has the traditional way of communicating
face to face left the building! Is it unrealistic to imagine
this scenario 'man sees woman, he then woo's her and
begins to date, they find common ground, fall in love and
then begin the journey of happy ever after'. Okay let's
scrap that, through my conversations and findings, the
dating scene in reality has turned
on its head.
Men and women are growing
further apart due to the fact they
are simply not communicating and
when those conversations do happen, it's a case of serious
misinterpretations of each other's personalities, wants
and desires. Women of today, are focused on acquiring
education, building a successful career and experiencing
life before thinking about finding a suitor or even settling
down.
The dating rules for women has transformed, women have
become more confident in what they want and certainly
know how to go and get it. They seem to be calling
the shots, going for option playmate rather a lifetime
companion. This has left men a little confused on how to
go about approaching women, they can feel intimidated
by the new age women and uncertain where they stand or
which role they need to play in their relationships.
In between all of this, there still remains both male and
females who want to drop confusion and have a healthy
relationship, without psychological games and just simple
straight talking. They would like to find their ideal match,
work together to support each other through love and
commitment. Does that sound too much of an ask? I
certainly do not think so.
