Create a goal for yourself. Getting, and
staying in shape is much easier when you have a
clear objective. Perhaps you want to run a 10k
race by the end of summer, maybe you want to
increase the amount of pull ups you can do, or
it could be that you just want to fit into those
particular pair of jeans that are too tight!

2.
Learn how to exercise using just your own
body weight, it will become your greatest piece of
equipment if you invest the time.
3.
Plan your workouts and stick to them like
it's an important meeting that cannot be missed.
I encourage my clients to meet me at the same
time each week; that way when their friends
suggest after work drinks - they can (hopefully)
say "Sure, but I'm only having one because I'm
meeting my trainer in the morning".
4.
When lifting weights, perform compound
exercises that use multiple joints. Squats,
dead lifts and lunges form the basis of all my
clients' workouts, experienced or novice. These
movements incinerate calories and build
muscle.
5.
Each week find a new activity to try. This
is an excellent way to keep your body guessing.
Search the internet for a free yoga class, go to
a park you've never been to and run a few laps,
perhaps you've always wanted to try boxing-
most gyms offer a complimentary first session
which will give you the chance to see if it's what
you've been looking for.
