For a period, you took time away from the industry
and took up the rather `safe' option of undertaking a
qualification in computer programming combined
with a Bachelor of Science degree with honours.
How much of this, if in anyway was influenced by
family or has the attainment of education always been
important to you personally?
I never thought having a career in the arts so to speak
was an option. I loved studying and always assumed my
journey was to go into Law or Business. The interesting
thing is, my degree has been extremely valuable as an
actor. At the end of the day having talent is essential, but
understanding business and marketing has been vital.
I used to sit and wish that I had gone to Drama school,
but now, I feel I did the right thing.
You have successfully landed roles in a number of
top shows in the US including: NCSI, CSI and Heroes
to name but a few, but out of all your roles, what has
been your most favourite role and why?
One of my favourite roles is in my upcoming movie
called `Singularity' which is out in October. I get the
chance to play a character that is ruthless and strong
with dark agendas to succeed. I had so much fun with
her and got to really challenge myself. I can't wait for you
all to see it.
Your skin always appears healthy and glowing in all of
the roles we have seen you in. Being an actress in the
public eye, image is indeed everything! Do you have
any fitness or beauty regimes that you follow that you
can share with our readers?
I enjoy working out 5 to 6 days a week, mixing spinning,
running, yoga and weights. I drink plenty of water;
coconut water for hydration and I always try to eat a
healthy balanced diet. I try to wear no make-up if I can,
or I only wear it on days when I'm having meetings or
auditions. It's important to let your skin breath and to be
careful about what you allow into your body.
Everyone in their lives come up against barriers
from time to time, whether it is in their personal or
professional lives. Have you come up against any and
if yes, how have you overcome them?
The truth of the matter is, in this life there will be
struggles and battles that you have to face. I always strive
to pick myself up after a fall, dust myself off and move
forward. I keep a positive attitude and press on. I don't
believe in giving up or giving in and I encourage others
to do the same.
The entertainment industry can, without fail be cut
throat at times, how do you rise above it all and keep a
level head?
It is important to try to not take things too personally.
Always focus on working hard and give everything you
attempt, your very best. It is a competitive industry, but
that's what makes it exciting. I wouldn't want it any other
way.
You are based in between the UK and the US, but
which do you prefer?
I spend more time in LA then the UK. I like the weather,
the sun shines for most of the year and nothing is better
for your health and wellbeing than continual bright
sunshine.
Who would you list as your biggest supporters?
My family and my close friends are my number one fans
and they always encourage me. I feel very grateful for the
people in my life, they help to make me into the person
that I am.
Who do you admire the most within your field and
why?
I deeply admire and respect all of the successful working
actors/actresses; who work alongside me. I know how
hard they have had to work to get their break and to
excel in their field. It's not easy and many people don't
make it. Therefore, major respect needs to be given to
those who do.
Who or what inspires you the most within your life?
I love being inspired on a daily basis. From having a
conversation with somebody to watching or reading
something, to seeing something that blows me away.
Do you have any positive quotations that you live by?
If yes, what are they?
"If you don't succeed at first, try try again"
"You can achieve anything, if you put your mind to it"
Finally in the face of adversity what would Tehmina
do?
Deal with the situation head on, then when the worst is
over, cry.
