Martin well done for completing the Virgin London
Marathon; this is such a major feat and one of my
own ambitions! You are an avid runner and have been
for many years; how much would you say this helped
you prepare for the big race and how do you feel it
went?
I feel it went ok, it was way slower than I wanted at
4hr 47mins. When you consider that I can run a half
marathon at around 1hr 46mins on a good day. I got
injured just before doing a 20 miler and so I knew it
would be a struggle in the end. My injury played up
massively and my last 4-5 miles were spent running
with a guy that I helped at the side of the road, a chap
called Joddy who was too injured to continue. I told
him that I would run with him; and so we crossed
the line together. He ended up tracking me down
afterwards and sending me a pic of us- it was a true
bro-mance moment! (Laughs) I really enjoyed training,
even though we had tons of snow and a particularly wet
winter. Feel free to check out my story on just giving:

You are a Christian and you mentioned in our
last interview that your faith keeps you grounded.
With so many young actors falling prey to the crazy
lifestyle that the entertainment industry can create,
how important has your religious beliefs been in your
keeping a level head?
I was brought up Roman Catholic and although I don't
go to church every week. I still have a firm belief in a
higher power, something bigger than ourselves and I
still have a firm belief in many of the messages in the
Bible. I think spirituality and faith is an important part
of life. That doesn't mean that people should have a
belief in monotheism as far as I'm concerned, or even
Christianity. I am fully aware that people have their
own beliefs and opinions and I totally respect that, in
fact I'm quite open to the idea of practising different
faiths or ideas. I do find it offensive if an atheist judges a
person based on their faith, for me it's comparable and
as ignorant as racism. I do think having a spiritual side
of your life fulfilled, is essential to feeling completely
happy in life. So it's something I embrace in my life and
the Christianity that I was brought up in is something
that influences my life daily.
You recently appeared in the Hollywood blockbuster
Zero Dark Thirty. For those not in the know, what
character did you play and how different would you
say this role has been to your previous roles?
Yeah, Zero Dark Thirty was an awesome experience. I
play a relatively small role in the movie. I had originally
auditioned to play one of the marines, whilst I was
making a movie called Judas Ghost last year. I then
found out that they wanted me to read for a guy from
National Security Agency (NSA). I play the assistant to
Stephen Dillane, a wonderful British actor. He too, is
only in the movie for a short while but he has an energy
in his performance that is incredibly memorable. I've
always liked his work, since his days in Mel Gibson's
Hamlet. It was a pleasure to appear in scenes alongside
he and Mark Strong- another fine actor, who is nothing
short of being the most wonderful man around! In
terms of previous roles, it was similar to other things.
I play a relatively young, yet outspoken member of
the NSA team, so a character with calm confidence,
which I've played many times. Being NSA, he's also an
American which is always fun to play.
It feels like only yesterday that we interviewed Actor Martin Delaney but it was well over a year ago; a clear
example of time flying effortlessly by. However, since our last catch up, Martin's career has gone from strength
to strength and it isn't only film roles that he has got under his belt. More recently Martin completed the
Virgin London Marathon for the charity Kick 4 Life. It was only right that we then revisited our superman to
find out how the big race went and to find out more about his latest ventures.....
