You have always been talented in the arts and secured
a scholarship at a young age to study music. How and
when did you make the transition to acting and is
music something you still do now? If no, would you
consider revisiting it in the future?
Music is a hobby of mine; I recently bought a piano to
be able to play again. I tried to make a career in music,
singing with different bands, girl groups and producers
it was something that I really loved doing. Then, believe
it or not acting actually came to me
by chance and I am beyond grateful
that I took the opportunity and
pursued being an actress. An agent
in the UK asked if I would like to
try it and at first I thought he was
joking, but he was deadly serious.
Looking back, it could have gone
a lot different and I am extremely
happy that I said yes and gave it a go. That was the
transition that took me away from music and into
acting. It was, without fail a good move!
The entertainment industry can be very cut throat
and in many ways, only the strongest survive. How
do you manage to keep a level head and not allow the
industry to bring you down?
Yes, the rejection is tough, but I have learnt to try and
not take it too personally. You have to get used to being
told no sometimes because that is what the industry
is all about. Things that help me to keep a level head
include working out in the gym. In fact, I would say
that this helps me immensely. It helps me maintain
my focus and keeps me positive and upbeat; especially
running and spinning. Music is also an amazing release.
However, nothing is more important
than being able to reach out to loved
ones. Having the option to talk to
my mum and friends is always the
best cure to for any low moments
that may occur from time to time.
I am very thankful for the people I
have in my life.
How did you manage to make the big break back into
acting?
I was never out of it, to go back into it. But I'm always
working at it. I'm in class all the time sharpening and
perfecting my skills. You should never stop learning
and developing. To me, that is the key to success.
