l.a. nickell golf course
Golfers will notice major differences at the Clubhouse at L.A.
Nickell, as renovations are expected to be completed this
spring. The latest improvements were made to improve the
experience for golfers, one in a series of changes to one of
Parks and Recreation's oldest facilities.
L.A. Nickell first opened as a 9-hole course and was dedi-
cated in 1957. It was named for L.A. Nickell Jr., president of
the Columbia Junior Chamber of Commerce. It was Mr. Nick-
ell's interest in developing a golf course and more parkland
for children that led
the Junior Chamber
to work with Parks
and Recreation and
the Cosmopolitan
Club to make the
course a reality.
