PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS
The mandate of the Professional Standards Committee is to receive formal
complaints of alleged breaches of any LSTAR Bylaws, General Policies, MLS®
Rules and Regulations or MLS® Policies as defined in Article 9 of LSTAR's
Bylaws.
Responsibilities are:

Either on its own initiative or upon receipt of a written complaint from any
source whatsoever, and after complying with the provisions of Section 4
of this Article 9, proceed to research the conduct of any Member of the
Association and proceed to take any action as prescribed in this Article
or in furtherance of its mandate and obligations as set out in this Article
9; and

At any time after having received a complaint or having proceeded on
its own initiative, the Committee may in its sole and absolute discretion
decide that no further action should be taken in respect of the matter
under research and such decision shall not be subject to review or
Appeal as defined in Article 9 of LSTAR's Bylaws.
34 formal complaints were received in writing over the course of 2022 and in
addition, 13 Staff Audits were forwarded to the committee. 31 complaints and
Staff Audits were resolved, no complaints were referred to the Real Estate
Council of Ontario (RECO), and 10 are currently in progress. The Committee
levied fines in 14 cases and referred 9 cases to the Discipline Committee.
