PUBLIC WEBSITE
In anticipation of the end of technical support for its public website's Drupal version, the LSTAR Communications Team
began seeking out web vendors in October 2021 to rebuild www.lstar.ca. After evaluating their options, LSTAR chose a
local digital services agency, rTraction, to undertake the project.
The work on the new www.lstar.ca started in January 2022 and the public-facing portion of the site was officially launched
in August of the same year.
In 2022, the website recorded 43,250 users, an increase of 4.65% compared to the previous year. It received 132,656
page views during 69,465 sessions, representing growth of 10.12% and 14.46%, respectively, from 2021. The average
session duration was 1 minute and 57 seconds.
Out of the total number of users, 85.3% were new visitors, while 14.7% were returning visitors. New visitors spent an
average of 1 minute and 8 seconds per session, while returning visitors spent 3 minutes and 16 seconds.
In terms of how users found the website, 44.5% discovered it through organic searches, 43.7% through direct links, 9.2%
through referrals, and 2.6% through social platforms and email.
In 2022, 90.88% of the website's visitors were from Canada and 5.01% from the United States, with the remaining 4.11%
from countries such as Ireland, Sweden, India, Nigeria, Philippines, Australia, China, and the Dominican Republic.
Out of the 43,250 users, 29,003 (66.98%) accessed the site via desktop, 13,483 (31.14%) via mobile, and 818 (1.89%) via
tablet. The average session duration was the longest for desktop users, at 2 minutes and 11 seconds, followed by mobile
users at 1 minute and 69 seconds, and tablet users at 1 minute and 83 seconds.
In terms of page views, the home page garnered the most attention with 40,720 views, followed by the "News" page
(formerly "Market Updates"), the 2021 Annual General Review publication, and the "Contact Us" page.
NEW MEMBER HUB
The journey towards creating the new Member Hub for LSTAR started in March 2022, with the Communications
Department holding meetings with the other LSTAR Departments to understand their existing challenges and
requirements. Through this evaluation, it became evident that the new Member Hub was envisioned as an all-in-one
solution for all Member needs, requiring two key integrations.
The first integration was with the LSTAR Association Management System, Relevate, to provide Members with seamless
access to the Relevate Member Portal, where they can enroll in courses and manage their payments. The second
integration was with the National Authentication Facility of CREA, ensuring that the new Hub was covered by the same
Single Sign-On (SSO) through which LSTAR Members access our MLS® System, thus eliminating their need to create
new usernames and passwords for the new site.
With that in mind, LSTAR hired an external IT Consultant, who participated in a number of virtual meetings related to the
new Member Hub and helped us finalize an official statement of requirements for the new site. Once this statement was
finalized, our next step was to contact more web vendors capable of fleshing out our vision of the new Member Hub and
ask them to provide estimates for this project.
