of Commerce degree.
John Barnes ('10), a volunteer direc-

Eastern Ontario Queen's University

their gratitude," he says.

Jonathan Hopwood

and filmmaker
Christopher Frith
('09), right, stopped by with
Gianluca
Gibbons
(2009) to chat with Alumni Relations Director
Jon Beard
.
Gianluca, a music technology and marketing student at La Sierra University,
a liberal arts Seventh Day Adventist institution in Riverside, CA, produced
US rapper Turbo T. Double's latest release, Insomniac. "I wanted to work
with him, because we both share a very similar outlook towards music,"
Gianluca told The Royal Gazette. "We like to put out positive
messages and speak about real things rather than the mainstream,
commercial music you usually hear on the radio. Our interest in using
actual instruments in the studio rather than electronic instruments is also
something we share." Gianluca has been playing the saxophone since
age eight and played with the National Youth Jazz Ensemble with Wendell
(Shine) Hayward. While at boarding school in Valencia, Spain, he played
in a Christian contemporary group, En Tus Manos, and helped record a
CD, Enthusiasmo, now available on iTunes. He also has a fusion band,
Heritage (HTG).
