Cannes-do!
S10
Cathal Rynne
won himself a trip to
France in the annual L'Alliance
Française des Bermudes essay contest.
His top prize includes a three-week stay
with a host family in Cannes, complete
with daily French lessons at the Centre
International d'Antibes and cultural
activities and excursions in Paris. Saltus
has performed admirably in the contest
the past two years: S10
Zaji Smith
was
named runner-up this time around,
while SGY2
Torrae Wainwright
won the
French trip last summer.

SGY1
Jonas Buelow
, a Rotary
Exchange student from Mulheim an der Ruhr, Germany, is
making lots of friends and enjoying his Saltus experience,
especially extracurricular activities. One highlight was his trip
to Canada with the Saltus football team last term. Jonas also
plays football for BAA's U16 and first division teams, and is
working to get his scuba certification.
Young parliamentarians
SGY2s
Torrae Wainwright
and
Gianni Nesbeth
travelled to London this spring to
represent the Bermuda Youth Parliament. The pair took part in the Commonwealth
Parliamentary Association (CPA) Headquarters Secretariat Observance of
Commonwealth Day. The trip included discussions about the Commonwealth, the
CPA, and its contribution to parliamen-
tary democracy, as well as a special cere-
mony at Westminster Abbey and an
evening reception--both attended by the
Queen. Torrae was lucky enough to meet
the Queen--and both students saw snow
for the first time! Other Saltus members
of the Bermuda Youth Parliament in-
