Ashley "Ally" Lusher (2004),
a photographer for the Department
of Communication & Information,
has produced a book of photos
entitled Generations Apart, N. E.
Lusher Revisited. Ally began the
process of creating the book three
years ago after discovering a
collection of images taken by her
great-great grandfather, N. E.
Lusher, in the Bermuda Historical
Society's collection in the Bermuda
Archives.
Rachel Sawden ('04), founder of
BermyDeals, has launched Bermuda
Loyalty--a system that gives local
businesses their own smartphone app
that can be customised to offer
customers rewards and incentives.
After leaving Saltus, Josh Correia
('06) spent time in university, before
pursuing other interests including
working at Dolphin Quest and a travel
agency, becoming a first-aid and CPR
instructor for the Red Cross and St.
John's Ambulance, and qualifying as
an EMT. "My time spent in Bermuda
volunteering as an EMT sparked my
interest in law and continued interest
in science," he says. "This combina-
tion encouraged me to study for a
joint honours degree programme in
human biology and law at the University
of Hertfordshire, UK, after which I'm
planning to pursue postgraduate
study on the science side of my
degree--I'm still too much of biology
nerd at heart to switch to law entirely!"
Christopher Parker ('06), son of
BHS Head Linda Noble Parker ('79)
and former DT teacher Roy Parker,
married Lucy Bache in Llanbedrog,
Wales. His brother Nick ('10) was
best man. The couple held a later
reception in Bermuda to celebrate
with those who could not attend the
wedding. Chris is an assistant under-
writer, excess liability, at ACE. "Nick
Boorman ('04) and I are enjoying our
roles at ACE very much," he says.

ALUMNI
Bayard Outerbridge
(2001) is Bermuda's first MFA
graduate of Hollywood's American Film Institute (AFI)
Conservatory, in the producing discipline. "I hope to
bring more productions to Bermuda and more
Bermuda to Hollywood productions in the near future
as I continue on my career path as a producer," says
Bayard, who credits his extended Bermudian family of
artists, musicians, painters and actors, including
cousin and screen star Michael Douglas, for creative
inspiration. "It wasn't until I visited one of Michael's
sets in Toronto at 17 that I began to have an inkling of
an interest in pursuing a career in film. He showed me
the ropes and explained some of the basics of how
this seemingly unwieldy mass of artists, technicians
and financiers collaborate to miraculously create a
unified work of art. I had a blast and Michael remains
an inspiration and a mentor to this day."
Bayard, who graduated this spring, has won kudos
for his film short Machsom, which had its world pre-
miere screening in March--and was one of five films
selected by industry veterans at the annual Directors
Guild of America Thesis Showcase. The film, whose
Hebrew title means "Checkpoint," was a collaboration
with four fellow AFI students for a thesis requirement.
The Directors Guild event networked Bayard with
industry insiders, which he hopes will fuel future
partnerships for his slate of feature film projects now
in development. "The nature of the business requires
you to keep as many irons in the fire as you can
practically manage as a producer, and I'm not sure at
the moment which one will take off first, but I've got an
action/adventure, a comedy and two thrillers in the
works," he says, as well as a "passion project" with a
Bermuda element.
"There are so many aspects of filmmaking that
draw me to it," notes Bayard, whose film won the
Bermuda International Film Festival Special Jury Prize
in April. "I really do have to pinch myself every now
and then when I reflect that I seem to be on my way
to making a career of it."
