ALUMNI welcomed their first child, Charlie Holmes, on March 18. Tom Steinhoff (1995) became a dad on May 17, 2010, with the arrival of Flora-Jane Patricia Steinhoff. Kumi Bradshaw (1995), who works for Asgill Post, a business valuation and litigation company, has written a book: Show Me the Money! Understanding the Value of Your Business. Andrew Holmes (’97) works for Lucy Hollis (2004) is studying Landscape Architecture as a postgraduate in Cheltenham, UK. She was recognised by the Bermuda Botanical Society and the Garden Club of Bermuda, which both awarded her scholarships. She has been gaining experience at the Parks Planning Department for the past two summers and finds it a perfect blend of her artistic and horticultural talents. She continues to pursue photography: her image “Mullet Bay at Dawn” was runner-up in The Bermudian magazine’s annual competition last year, and was chosen as its cover shot. She was also a trainee on the Bark Europa, joining the Tall Ships Atlantic Challenge and sailing from Panama to Bermuda. Her photographs from Europa were featured in the annual Premier’s Concert. Lucy is Bermuda’s representative in the Sail Training International’s youth forum. She travelled to Stavanger, Norway to participate in the group’s annual conference. Flight Lieutenant Ben Beasley (’98), station training and development officer at the Royal Air Force at Leuchers, in Fife, Scotland, ran the Bristol halfmarathon in September as part of the RAF Rugby 7s Team (“The Spitfires”), wearing his combat uniform, including assault boots and weighted Bergans to raise funds for the Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund, Help for Heroes, and the Long March Fund. He writes: “All the team members completed the run—two of them in flying suits and fake handlebar moustaches! More importantly, the public profile of these charities was greatly increased and a substantial sum of financial support was generated. Last summer, he won his second BMDS “Famous for 15 Minutes” playwriting competition for his play Cockroaches. He had a role in Gilbert & Sullivan’s The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas and also starred in the Christmas 2010 pantomime, The Firebird. Shiona Turini (’99), senior accessories editor at Teen Vogue magazine, visited Milan and Paris to view the spring/ summer 2011 fashion shows and was featured on www.vogue.com as one of the week’s best dressed. Turini launched www.stylebermuda.com in 2007 and plans to launch a hard-copy edition. She offered to provide guidance to Saltus students interested in the fashion industry. Emily D’Alessio Steinhoff (’98) and husband Robert Steinhoff (1993) welcomed son Ben at the end of July. Gosling’s as a brand manager and owns 441 Productions, which brings bands and DJs to the Island.
