Athlete of Year S11 swimmer
Emma Franklin has been named Year. Emma received the honour at the Annual Bermuda Sports Awards presented in February. It was the first time a junior athletes category had been included. Emma won two Bronze Medals at the 2010 Carifta Championships in Jamaica, with a time of 32:51 in the 50-metre backstroke—a girls 13–14 age-group record. She also won a Bronze Medal competing in the 2010 Caribbean Island Swimming Championships in Cuba.

Sailing S10 Sam Stan was third overall and first Bermudian in both the Junior Gold
Cup and Bermuda Open Nationals, sailing against some of the world’s top Optimist sailors. He also competed in the 2010 World Championship in Malaysia over the winter. In February, he finished first in local qualifications for the South American Championships, but will not compete, as he’d have to miss two weeks of school. Instead, he has set his sights on the North American Championships this July in Cabrillo Beach, Los Angeles, CA.

Scott Clarke recently qualified for the IAAF World Youth Championships in Athletics, with a time of 11:11 seconds in the 100 metres. Scott set the time—a personal best—at a track meet held at the National Sports Centre. The championships will be held in Lille, France July 6–10. S A LT U S M A G A Z I N E
