Trans Tasman Adventure continued annoyed at myself for taking two rails in the showjumping, but most of the field took at least one rail, including first and second place. Pluto Mio (ridden by Stuart Tinney) looked stunning as he wore his rug, ribbon and garland in a lap of honour with the other place getters, Craig Barrett, Shane Rose, Nat Blundell, Joseph Waldron (NZ), and me following. First, second, fourth and sixth placegetters were on the Australian squad so Australia was victorious in retaining the Trans Tasman title by 68.6 penalties. The support provided for the Australian squad was amazing with Prue Barret – Chef d’ Equipe, Victoria Kahn – physiotherapist, Brett Parbery – dressage coach, Sam Lyle – show jumping coach, Michelle Graham – High Performance Sport Consultant and Nathan Anthony – team vet. Further support rolled in for me during the week with the arrival of my groom, Lauren Dunning, and my WA fan club – Mum, Nanna, Nikki Brooks and Di Bawden. The Aus team hosted a welcome BBQ for the visiting New Zealanders after a dawn service on ANZAC Day. Brett Parbury was there to warm all the team members up for dressage. We later had our dressage tests reviewed by the visiting Canadian judge, Cara Whitham, and I was pleased with the feedback from her. Trumby pulled up well after the cross country – no problems getting through the trot up the next morning. Sam was there before the showjumping to lend a hand as well. Above: A moment of contemplation for Jess and ‘Trumby Right: WA support team - Helen Rosman (Jess’s nanna), Di Bawden, Louise Manson (Jess’s mum), Nikki Brooks and Bradley - golf buggy driver!
