Heidi Emery, the event director, certainly pulled out all the stops to successfully hold one of the biggest dressage competitions ever held in the State with nearly five hundred tests being ridden over the weekend. Twenty seven judges were brought in to deal with the high number of tests provided, with five Eastern State judges being brought in specially for the event. Offering a trade stand area with some very interesting horse merchandise, including equipment, feed, horse floats and health, this Festival also provided a Body Spa Guinot Pamper Lounge for the riders/spectators, and for those who didnt want to take advantage of the catering caravans – it also offered the Spooks Sparkling High Tea where ticket holders could partake in some canapes and champagne whilst watching the Sunday freestyle tests. There were some amazing scores achieved over the weekend with the highest percentage over the weekend being a 76.8% achieved by Klara Bennington riding Zia Park All Ablaze in the Associate Preliminary 1B. The next highest percentage being another 76% with a great test in the Official Preliminary 1D by Janina Kletke riding SS Sir Falon. Even in the higher tests the winning scores were often nearly at the 70% mark, demonstrating that the quality of the training of many of our more advanced horses here in WA is steadily improving and becoming competitive scorewise at a National level.
