Eneo Candid series enhanced with thermal imagery
Rodermark, Germany
The new Eneo PTB Candid
cameras are fully compatible with
Aimetis products and can be
integrated into analogue as well as
networked systems.
The camera modules are pro-
tected by robust Candid series plug
& play housings so that even harsh
environmental conditions within
a temperature range of -20 to 50°C
are absolutely no problem.
Uwe Höppner, Director Eneo
Product Management, explains
about the introduction of this new
product segment: "Thermography
is an increasingly attractive market,
particularly since its applications
are not restricted to the classic se-
curity sector. The new thermal im-
agery cameras with their particular
capabilities are therefore a perfect
supplement to the performance
spectrum of our Candid series."
The maintenance-free thermal
imagery modules come with
a three-year warranty and are
available with 5 to 35mm fixed
focal lengths. In addition to the
plug & play design typical of the
Candid, the new models offer a
further user-friendly feature as
they are incorporated with a USB
port. With detection ranges from
330 to 3800 metres they identify
potential intruders at even long
distances and ensure surveillance
over large areas.
Etherwan managed rack-mount 10 gigabit Ethernet switch
Taipei, Taiwan
Etherwan
are launching their new
feature rich managed rack-mount
10 gigabit Ethernet switch, the
EX25611, which provides up to
24 ports of 10/100/1000BASE-T
with 4 ports in SFP combo and 4
ports 1G/10G SFP+ for uplinks.
The EX25611 gigabit Ethernet
switch provides full support for
IGMP snooping for Ethernet mul-
ticast, it includes a comprehensive
QoS mechanism to allocate band-
width for real-time application,
and management can be achieved
through CLI, Web and SNMP v1,
v2c, v3.
Etherwan have provided port
security, an IP source guard,
IEEE 802.1X, Radius/Tacacs+
authentication and ACL for up to
256 entries. The comprehensive
spanning tree protocols prevent
network loops and also provide
high network availability, and
there is link aggregation for up to
14 groups and 8 ports per group.
This gigabit workgroup switch
is designed to handle high band-
width applications and is capable
of reaching up to 128Gbps with a
non-blocking switching
architecture.

Weather detection prevents false alarms
Taby, Sweden
A newly developed adaptive
algorithm with automatic weather
detection and extended alarm pos-
sibilities are in focus with the new
version of the Embsec laser sensor
Vfence F-501.
In challenging weather condi-
tions, a weather alarm is sent to the
VMS system while the sensor effec-
tively filters out the weather noise
and thus eliminates false alarms.
"A year ago we launched the
laser sensor Vfence F-501, an IP
based detector for outdoor use
with long range and high accuracy.
The new version has a newly devel-
oped algorithm that both makes
the installation easier and allows
for more reliable detection. Avoid-
ing false alarms has been our main
objective," says Erik Lindstein,
CEO of Embsec.
Vfence F-501 uses an adap-
tive algorithm which automati-
cally adjusts the object detection
sensitivity based on signal stability.
This allows the sensor to maintain
maximum detection while sup-
pressing noise from fog and snow
or other disturbances such as birds
and falling leaves. The Vfence
F-501 evaluates the measurement
signal in real time to determine
the weather intensity at a scale
from 0 to 10, allowing the user to
easily create weather alarm actions.
Weather alarms to VMS system
can be activated when the weather
intensity exceeds a particular
threshold.
"Embsec's new self awareness
functionality further improves
on our detection capability and
low false alarm rates in difficult
weather conditions. Operators
are notified when there is a risk
for limited detection capability, a
feature that we have not seen in
any other products on the market,
this makes Vfence F-501 unique,"
concluded Erik Lindstein.
Basler cameras now with edge storage
Ahrensburg, Germany
Digital camera specialist Basler
has started series production of
their IP box cameras with edge
storage functionality. From now
on, all Basler IP cameras will be
equipped with an SD card slot.
The integrated microSDHC
card slot provides for local data
storage of up to 32 GB. This
functionality makes it possible to
store live streams or single camera
images in configurable time
intervals on an SD card. In case of
a network failure, the camera acts
as a backup solution by record-
ing video streams to the SD card.
When the network connection has
been restored, the video manage-
ment system can retrieve the data
and merge it seamlessly with video
footage captured before the con-
nection was interrupted.
When using an efficient
encoder type such as H.264 and a
high-capacity
SD card, a
Basler IP
camera can
indepen-
dently capture and store images
for an extended period of time
without transmitting data back to
a client. This is especially useful
in remote surveillance locations,
since the camera will not require
any network connection.
"With edge storage, our IP
cameras can act as self-sufficient
systems," states Björn Weber,
Product Manager at Basler. "Our
customers can rely on uninter-
rupted video footage even in case
of network failures."
Basler IP cameras are available
as box and dome models with
resolutions of VGA to 5 megapix-
els and frame rates of up to 100
frames per second.
