Interactive camera visualization content in 3D for Autodesk Revit
Lund, Sweden
Axis Communications
launches
a strong addition to its offer of
tools for security system design-
ers. The camera models in Axis
Camera Families include detailed
metadata required for Building
Information Modeling (BIM).
The 3D models will also let secu-
rity system designers interactively
visualize camera coverage to help
them select the right camera
model and optimize the system
layout.
The innovative Axis Camera
Families for Autodesk Revit pro-
vides 3D camera models to illus-
trate what the camera set-up will
look like in real life and which
areas the surveillance system will
cover once installed. The 3D
models are specifically made for
security system designers when
designing surveillance systems
directly in Autodesk Revit 3D
CAD building layouts.
"Security should be an inte-
gral part of the design process
of any new large building,"
explains Peter Friberg, Director
of System and Services, Axis
Communications. "To achieve
the best level of security and
avoid blind spots that could
potentially become a security
issue, security systems need to
be planned at the same time as
other essential services such as
electricity and plumbing."
With the new 3D models in
Axis Camera Families, security
system designers can place Axis
Network Cameras directly into
CAD building plans and visualize
the areas the cameras will cover.
The software allows them to see
exactly how the cameras fit into
the building layout and to easily
detect if views are obstructed by
columns or walls, to help reduce
unexpected blind spots. This
means security system planning
can now be completed as an
integrated part of the building
design, integrating into the same
tool flow that is used for the rest
of the building design. Users of
the CAD system can also access
information about each camera
such as the model number,
mounting accessories, power con-
sumption and resolution.
Todd Kotlaba, Associate &
Systems Project Manager at TLC
Engineering for Architecture,
received an early release of Axis
Camera Families: "We have used
Axis Camera Families in CCTV
designs for our clients. The true
3D model of the camera provides
us with the ability to run clash
detection and conflict avoidance
simulation with other build-
ing systems such as mechanical,
electrical and plumbing, to avoid
routing conflicts and obstruc-
tions to the camera's intended
field of view. Axis Camera Fami-
lies is also extremely helpful for
our clients that often cannot
visualize what will be seen when
construction is complete. The
information also identifies pixels
per foot for the camera selected
which helps meet our client's
expectation for the quality of the
viewable image and recording
resolution."
Building Information
Mode ling is a concept where all
components in a building, such
as walls, doors, plumbing etc.,
are included in a CAD data-
base, giving a complete picture
of every detail included in the
design. This database is then
not only used in planning and
erecting the building, but also
throughout the entire lifespan
of the building to plan building
maintenance and management.
The Axis Camera Families
for Autodesk Revit are available
today free of charge for existing
Axis Partners. The vast majority
of Axis Network Cameras are
included.
Airlive introduces high-end 3M outdoor camera
Taipei, Taiwan
Airlive
has recently released a new
high-end outdoor IP camera, the
BU-3025, designed for profes-
sional surveillance.
The Airlive BU-3025 net-
work camera is equipped with
a 3 megapixel sensor combined
with a high quality CBC 4.3mm
Japanese made lens and provides
brilliant images with a maximum
resolution of 2048x1536 pixels
and excellent light sensitivity
enabling colour picture recording
at 0,05Lux illumination intensity.
That is 9x higher than most types
of CCTV security cameras. The
BU-3025 also features the new
TI368 chipset, that can produce
30FPS with full HD 1080P view-
ing and excellent picture quality
with vivid colours.
Other improvements on image
quality include the new Airlive
clear motion technology, which
is used to minimize motion blur
from moving objects, enabling
users to have a constant flow
of quality imaging. Live video
streaming allows users to watch
over the Internet in many formats,
from hi-res H.264 MPEG4 codec
to 3GPP for mobile phones.
Because the Airlive BU-3025 is
designed for 24hour surveillance
even in harshest conditions, the
camera is equipped with strong
infrared LEDs, making it possible
to take shots at up to a distance of
25 metres in complete darkness.
A removable IR-cut filter is also
present to allow for adapting to
any lighting conditions with the
surrounding area.
The Airlive BU-3025 is de-
signed as an outdoor professional
device and accordingly is supplied
with an IP66 waterproof housing,
with a cooling fan mounted inside
the enclosure, which provides
cooling during hot months as well
as preventing moisture and fogging
problems in colder conditions. The
camera is styled in white serving
not only as an aesthetically pleasing
finish but also lessens unnecessary
heating during the summer time.
The PoE (802.3af) facility makes
mounting simpler and eliminates
the need for an electrical outlet
at the site and less cabling during
installation.
Other features of the Airlive
BU-3025 are the SD card slot for
image data backup, microphone
and speaker jacks with two-way
communication options, ONVIF
compatibility, digital input and
output for external sensors and
alarms for added security and
better integration into security
systems.
It has been packaged with a
free software, the Airlive Campro
Express 64, that permits users
to view and record multiple live
camera streams at the same time.
In addition, Airlive supports
another advanced software pack-
age Campro Professional which
allows remote management and
individual setup of every Airlive
camera connected to the system
as well as tracking and storage
of data from up to 64 connected
devices simultaneously. It also
has functions to protect cameras
against misuse, as the operator
will be notified when tampering
with the camera, trying to cover
the lens or change its direction is
detected.
Last but not least, the BU-
3025 includes as an innovation the
new Airlive U.I. featuring "push to
talk" a very neat, clear and logi-
cal interface with online help.
