S
t. Anne's Credit Union of Fall
River, Mass. held a "Dress for
World Series Sox-cess" casual day
for a cause in October. Employees
raised nearly $300 for the Jimmy Fund
(bringing their year's total donated to
the Jimmy Fund to almost $800) and
wore Red Sox jerseys to show their
support for both the cause and the
Boston Red Sox. A branch and depart-
ment picture contest was also held to
see which employees had the most red
and blue spirit, and it was a tie be-
tween the Underwriting Department
and the Compliance & Loan Servicing
Departments.
The Jimmy Fund is the official charity
of the Boston Red Sox - since its
founding in 1947, Dana-Farber Cancer
Institute has been committed to pro-
viding cancer patients with the best
treatment available. The Jimmy Fund
supports the fight against cancer in
children and adults at Dana-Farber,
helping to raise the chance of survival
for cancer patients around the world.
This is just one of many casual days
the credit union participates in during
the course of the year to donate to
charities in need.
Employees of St. Anne's Credit Union of
Fall River, Mass. donated a carload full
of handmade blankets, pillows, and
various other personal items on the
wish list of the Veterans Transition
House of New Bedford, just in time for
Veteran's Day. Since the cold weather
was coming,
they were in
great need of
several items.
The Veterans
Transition
House (VTH)
helps homeless
and at-risk vet-
erans and their
families in the
Massachusetts
South Coast
area. They pro-
vide shelter
and services,
with a special
focus on healing from substance abuse
and learning new life skills. They were
founded in 1990 by a group of Vietnam
veterans and community leaders who
recognized the vital need for housing
and supportive services for area home-
less and at-risk veterans--especially
those tackling substance abuse--on the
Massachusetts SouthCoast. Their goal
is the rehabilitation, self-sufficiency,
and reintegration of each veteran into
the community. St. Anne's Credit Union
holds a blanket and pillow drive every
year around Thanksgiving to be do-
nated to a homeless shelter or a Vet-
eran's home.
On Sunday, October 20, the 40
th
An-
nual Musictown Parade Festival was
held in Somerset on a beautiful fall
day.
