Hundreds gather to celebrate Egan's career
O
n November 7, hundreds of
people gathered at Gillette
Stadium in Foxborough,
MA for a gala celebration of Dan
Egan's career. The crowd included
credit union friends from the Mas-
sachusetts, New Hampshire, and
Rhode Island credit union com-
munities as well as guests from
all across the United States repre-
senting the national credit union
movement.
The party took place in the Put-
nam Club, which overlooks the
playing field and, for this night at
least, a message on the giant
scoreboards on both ends of the
field thanked Dan for his 32 years
of service. The beautifully deco-
rated space set the tone for what
turned out to be a special and
highly enjoyable evening for all.
At the reception, the crowd min-
gled and had the opportunity to
congratulate Dan individually prior
to the speaking program.
The program began with a wel-
come from David Surface, chair-
man, Massachusetts League and
CEO of St. Jean's Credit Union. He
handed the pro-
gram off to the em-
cee for the evening,
Mark Sievewright,
president of Credit
Union Solutions at
Fiserv, who kept
the program mov-
ing through the
many speakers who
wished Dan well, all
while sharing some
funny anecdotes.
Each of the three
state trade groups
of which Dan
served as the presi-
dent was represented at the po-
dium. Those speakers were David
Suvall, chairman
of the Rhode Is-
land Association
and president of
Rhode Island
Credit Union;
Gerry Dumoulin,
chairman of the
New Hampshire
League and
president of
Guardian Angel
Credit Union;
and Bill Sinibaldi
of Metro Credit Union. Bob De-
laney, COO of Members Insurance
Agency spoke on behalf of the
staff of the Leagues and the Asso-
ciation.
Speakers from the national credit
union movement included Bill
Cheney, president of CUNA;
Susan Newton, CUNA SVP and
executive director of the American
Association of Credit Union
League Executives; Dick En-
sweiler, president of the Corner-
stone Credit Union League; and
David Cry, former SVP of CUNA
Mutual Group, representing that
organization.
The speaking program ended with
Dan taking his turn at the micro-
phone. He thanked all of his col-
leagues and credit union friends
and spoke of his good fortune to
serve the
credit unions
of Massachu-
setts, New
Hampshire,
and Rhode Is-
land. He re-
turned to one
of his favorite
themes and
addressed the
tremendous
strength that
the coopera-
tive nature of credit unions con-
fers on the
movement.
He closed
his remarks
by thanking
his wife and
family who
were there
with him to
enjoy the
evening.
