ATRIAN BAKERS: Quality, Tradition, Service, Variety
On 11th March 1993, UNIFRES, S.L. opened to continue the business activities of Chari Alimentación in Castellar del Valles. It immediately became a frozen pastry company thanks to its new owners’ clear conviction that this would be a sector of the future. For ten years UNIFRES underwent a period of steady growth, requiring its production plant to be extended and moved to Terrassa. In 2003 and with the aim of consolidating its position in the sector’s main markets, it invested €14,000,000 in a new factory in the industrial complex built by the LASEM GROUP in Castellgalí. Under the trade name of ATRIAN BAKERS, managed by some of the most renowned professionals in the sector, backed by a staff of 220 and the most sophisticated, state-of-the-art machinery, designed in part by the company and unique to the market, it now offers some 300 products. ATRIAN has a subsidiary in Portugal that does business under the name of ATRIAN INDUSTRIA ALIMENTAR, S.A. (www. atrian.pt), in which it is a majority shareholder. This factory markets Portuguese specialities and distributes cakes produced in Castellgalí. QUALITY The quality of our products is guaranteed by British Retail Consortium (BRC) food certification for all our manufacturing processes. This standard is specific to the agri-food industry and applicable to companies that process/manufacture a product. Atrian’s management made a firm commitment to this certification due to the high demands of the standard, since the BRC is extremely exacting in its requirements, and its clear international outlook. BRC certification is an internationally recognised standard for ongoing improvements in food safety. Although neither mandatory nor legally required, it sets out the requirements of a management system for food safety, starting from HACCP but with special emphasis on the different phases of the production process. The key points of the standard involve establishing rigorous control measures for the traceability of the system to ensure the quality of the manufactured product. These measures range from the purchase of raw materials-fromAnnual Catalog 28 ~ Fresh Products 2013 2014 approved suppliers, to
