TIP
Denmark’s biggest tree and a fresh water well right in the middle of the harbour. Experience some of the unique attractions at Lolland-Falster.
Hug the biggest tree in Denmark
he pretty Corselitz forests at the eastern coast of Falster contain many big and old oak trees. Here you can e.g. find the biggest tree in Denmark, the old Valdemar oak tree with a circumference of 9.35 metres and about 550 years of age. However, the second biggest tree in Denmark is also at LollandFalster, the Frostrup oak tree at the eastern part of Lolland. At the harbour of Bandholm you can visit the old public bath, still frequented by a lot of people. There is a wonderful view from the public bath to the Smålandshav and to the islands Askø, Lindholm and Skidtø. The public name of Skidtø (”the dirty island”) is Havneø, but the island was made by the soil that was dug up when the inner harbour was established, so among the locals it is called Skidtø.

To the top at Lolland-Falster
We have to admit it - the wonderful nature of Lolland-Falster is a little short of mountains. It is, however, possible to go up a little. The highest point of Lolland-Falster is Bavnehøj at Nr. Vedby, 44 meter above sea level. At Lolland you can also find a protruding beacon height - a 30 metre high hill at Ravnsby Bakker at Birket
The yellow houses of Bandholm - and its unique well
he idyllic port Bandholm is situated right next to Knuthenborg Safari Park. This is a very special little pearl with its many old, yellow warehouses that, in spite of its littleness, is still a busy commercial port. Here you will find one of the most peculiar wells in the world - a fresh water well right in the middle of the basin. A similar well is, as far as we know, only to be found in the port of New York. The position is a relic of the time of the sailing ships. Here it was easy to get fresh water on board.

The southern point of Scandinavia
The South Stone at Gedser Odde is not just a making of the southernmost point of Denmark, but of the entire Scandinavia. In the spring and in the autumn the sky is completely darkened by huge bird migrations on their way to and away from their breeding grounds.
