In the landscape you can experience history in the form of i.a. barrows, burial mounds, industrial tracks or manors in beautiful surroundings. Apart from the many tracks in the landscape the local history is also illustrated in a lot of big and small museums on the islands. Museum Lolland-Falster comprises several, interesting divisions, each informing about important elements of the history of LollandFalster. Here in the main building of the estate Pederstrup you can experience the history about the important reformer and statesman C.D.F. Reventlow (1748-1827) and his family. The museum comprises a unique collection of art, arts and crafts and furniture dating back to 1760-1830, which together with the well-preserved interior give you an idea of an era of the history of Denmark. You should also visit the exhibition ”Herregård & Landskab Lolland” in the beautifully renovated stable of the stud. The story behind the special landscape of estates at Lolland is described accompanied by stands at several estates and in this way the exhibition is an inspiration for trips and new experiences at the approximately 45 estates of Lolland. I Falsters Minder and Den gamle Købmandshandel 2 013 is the 100 years anniversary of the creation of the cultural history museum Falsters Minder in Nykøbing. Times change, so a visit to the museum Falsters Minder is today also a visit to Den gamle Købmandshandel. The combination of a traditional visit to a museum and a visit to a general store from the 1950ties gives you the opportunity to look at the past. Here you can experience Nykøbing in the Middle Ages, stories and findings from the Renaissance castle of Nykøbing, the servants’ hall from the 1800ties and the charming village street from about 1900 with i.a. the pretty jeweller’s shop.
