Take the post boat through the island nation

lotø, Vejlø .. the small islands in Nakskov Fjord are numerous and they each have their own history. Enehøje, that used to be the home of the Greenland traveller Peter Freuchen, and where the visitors are still met by a portal of huge whale jaws. Slotø, where the ruins of the old Engelskborg tells the story about an efficient fortification, where the cannons at the beginning of the 16th century protected the entry to Nakskov Fjord. And last but not least, the many bird islands, the favorite
places for feathered visitors from far and wide for breeding and foraging in the shallow water. Visit the islands with the old post boat of Nakskov, which has been in service for more than 70 years. The shark cutter Regatta and Festival in Nysted can celebratetheir 5th anniversary in 2013 and there will be music and aquatics from 5th to 7th Aug. The sailing race from Nysted to Rostock is really a unique experience. You can participate yourself or take the shorter trip in a shark cutter. Sundown on the ferry Ida
The oldest wooden ferry in Denmark carries the name Ida and throughout the summer she is in service bringing cars, bikers and pedestrians. The trip takes only 12 minutes, so if you don’t have time to enjoy the entire view, you are welcome to go back again. On Wednesdays Ida goes out for a sundown trip.
