Location
Imperial Valley is the heart of one of the
most scenic desert areas in the great Southwest.
Brawley, strategically located in the Valley, is the
center of one of the most fertile agriculture
regions in the world. Three state highways
intersect in Brawley, North-South Hwy 86, Hwy
111 and East-West Hwy 78 make Brawley easily
accessible from the coast as well as Arizona and
points East. Hwy 86 is a four lane expressway
connecting Brawley to Coachella Valley, Inter-
state 10 and points North.
Climate
Winter and Spring are the most won-
derful time of the year in Imperial Valley. No
other place on earth has better weather in
wintertime. Nights are mostly in the high 40's
with days in the high 60's to mid 70's and the
sun shines almost every day. Outdoor recre-
ation such as golf, tennis, dune activities, and
hiking are high on the list of things to do
during winter. The great weather is also why
the Blue Angels, the U.S. Navy's Flight Demon-
stration Team, chose the Valley's Naval Air
Facility as its mid-winter training ground. In
Spring the desert o ers an array of beautiful
wild owers. The only other places with com-
parable weather are the Palm Springs and
Phoenix, Arizona areas. They are located in the
same Sonoran desert as Imperial Valley. When
high summer temperatures arrive, residents
nd living in the Imperial Valley pleasant due
to well air conditioned homes and businesses
throughout the area.
