Education
The public school system in Brawley has two strong
components that are complimentary to each other. The
Brawley Elementary School District and The Brawley Union
High School District are governed by separate Boards of
Trustees and administration. This separation allows for the
focus on the needs of these varying age students
Brawley Elementary School District
The Elementary District serves the K through eighth
grade students at four elementary sites and one junior high
school location within the city of Brawley. Through quality
instructional programs, the mission is to educate all students
to achieve to their potential.
Brawley Union High School
The Brawley Union High School District serves the
cities of Brawley and Westmorland from the campus in Braw-
ley. To prepare students to become productive citizens, the
Board of Education is committed to increasing student
achievement through the implementation of standards-based
instructional programs delivered by a high quality sta and
clearly identi ed performance benchmarks.
IVC
Imperial Valley College is a rapidly growing communi-
ty college that o ers a full range of associate degrees, profes-
sional certi cates, and basic skills courses as well as a compre-
hensive array of university transfer and education courses.
Classes are o ered on the main campus site and
other locations through-out Imperial County. The faculty at
Imperial Valley College is highly quali ed with many possess-
ing doctorate degrees. In 2010, the college opened its new
67,000 square-foot science building. This building is the
result of the voting public of the Imperial Valley and is the
focal point for an exciting facility growth plan that will serve
the students of IVC now and into the future. IVC is also a
major economic engine in Imperial County. It is responsible
for infusing more than $300 million annually into the local
economy through its construction projects, general opera-
tions, and annual earnings of its current students and
graduates.
SDSU
The San Diego State University-Imperial Valley
Campus Brawley facility provides area residents with the
opportunity to take a wide variety of courses, which may be
used to earn undergraduate or graduate degrees, or for
self-improvement. The beautiful Brawley facility includes
classrooms, a computer laboratory, o ces, and snack room.

The Imperial Valley University Partnership (IVUP) is an innovative educational initiative undertaken by San Diego State University's Imperial Valley
Campus (SDSU-IV), Imperial Valley College (IVC), the Imperial County Office of Education (ICOE). All students who apply to SDSU-IV as first-time
freshman will participate in IVUP. This program is designed to provide students with an enriched college and university experience. It involves joint
admission of students to IVC and SDSU-IV, meaning that students will apply, be admitted and attend classes at both schools for the first two years.
