![]() tee member Joanie Moore had teh vision of sharing the rodeo experience for those who might not otherwise attend the regular performances on the weekend. Inviting th schools to bring their special needs students seemed like a good place to start. Not being able to produce a full-scale rodeo on a weekday for the audience, the committee decided to present a mini version- thus the name "Mini Rodeo". The audience has since grown to include many other special needs groups in the Valley. BArrel Racing, 3 in Line Barrels, Gunny Sack Race and wildly popular Hide Race. No rodeo would be complete without clowns. These younger students keep the crowd entertained between events both in the arena and interacting with the kids in the stands. The rodeo concludes with a cattle drive through the arena. addition to serving drinks to the children having lunch afterwards. The Naval Air Facility also sends a group of America's nest to assist with getting those in wheelchairs o buses and opportunity for them to pet their horses. All the participants donate numerous hours of their time and their livestock for this event. Their reward is the joy, cheers and applause expressed by our special audience. |
