It might be anything from massive
life changes like giving up smoking
or joining a gym, to simply taking the
stairs over the lift, but sadly for many
of us we fall at the first hurdle and
end up breaking those resolutions
within the first couple of weeks. And
it's not hard to see why. January is
undoubtedly the most depressing
month of the year. We've all overdone
it on several fronts; eaten far too well,
had one or two more glasses of wine
than we should, plus we've all got
less in our pockets. So it's no wonder
that self-sacrificing resolutions full
of denial and hardship don't tend to
work.
But what if, instead of making
outrageous resolutions you wont
possibly be able to stick with, you
decided to set yourself some new
resolutions that actually give you
some pampering `me-time' instead of
going down the `sackcloth and ashes'
route? And what if these resolutions
still made you feel like you've
achieved something worthwhile?
Well thankfully its not rocket science
ladies! Here I've put together 5 top
New Year's Beauty Resolutions that
you can stick to and won't make you
feel miserable... instead they should
give you some extra pamper time and
make you feel like you've achieved
something in the process!
1.
Give yourself a mini facial
massage once a week
While it's lovely to treat yourself
with a snazzy massage from a spa
or salon, getting into a
routine of home facial
massage is a great way
to get skin glowing, not
to mention the anti-age
benefits. The face is full
of muscles and like any
muscles if you want
them to stay strong
(AKA not saggy!) then
you need to exercise
them. A lot of it is down
to feel and our hands
naturally go to pressure points, such
as the temples or between the nose.
Massaging your fingers for a few
minutes gently on areas like this is a
great way to get skin in shape while
releasing natural pressure points.
2.
Drink More Water
Okay so maybe this one is not the
most pleasant, but it's a really easy
one to
follow.
Just bring
a bottle of
water to
work every
day and try
and take
sips from it
throughout
your day. If
you find it
empty then keep filling it up. Stick to
it and you'll be surprised how much
water you're drinking without feeling
like you're force-feeing the old `8
glasses of water a day' regime down
your gullet. Your skin will thank you
for it! Its also great for flushing out
winter toxins from the body too and if
you're on a diet, it's a good way to fill
up your tummy instead of snacking.
3.
Make time for your nails
.
Now this is a fun one. Allot ten
minutes or so just before you go to
bed for your nails. Keep a mini bag of
kit by the bed and have a proper nail
scissors, cuticle oil or balm, nail file,
hand cream and nail strengthener
in it. Look at those ten minutes as
`me-time' and give your hands a total
mini pamper session. You don't have
to spend ages on it, but a little bit of
maintenance each night will have
your hands and nails looking superb
by the end of the month.
4.
invest in a CC or BB Cream
It doesn't have to cost a fortune,
and for under 30 you can begin a
daily routine that has multi
benefits for your skin. We've
been bombarded with CC
and BB creams recently and
the good news is that these
multi taskers do a variety
of things for your skin all in
one pack, meaning you have
spend less time and money
on keeping skin glowing.
January always seems to
be the worst skin month
for many of us, with cold
weather and detoxing from
the festive excessed, it can
leave skin with breakouts,
or looking dry and tired. Elizabeth
Arden's BB Cream at 28 is a great
all in one skin treat. It hydrates,
brightest, primes and protects the
skin, plus it's tinted so you can even
use it as foundation. Or if you're
of the CC persuasion then try Irish
brand Karora's CC Cream 24.99
that corrects your skin tone while
providing long lasting hydration
thanks to its green tea leaf extract.
5.
treat yourself
.
If you happen to have around 15
burning a whole in your wallet after
the festive season, then a month's
subscription to Glossybox is a great
way to treat yourself to some must
have beauty products that will help
the `January Blues' pass in a flash. If
you've never heard of it, Glossybox
is a fab beauty box with five deluxe
beauty miniatures inside which are
delivered straight to your door each
month. The content and theme of
the boxes are a
surprise, plus
the value of
the products
you receive
are always
worth
more than
you have
paid for.
